Know Your Normal

At PAUSE Live, we believe that every woman deserves to understand her body, trust her instincts, and feel empowered to seek the care she needs. That’s why we’re proud to launch Know Your Normal—a national campaign led by Dr. Shirin Lakhani, dedicated to transforming the conversation around women’s intimate and hormonal health.

Know Your Normal is more than just an awareness campaign. It’s a movement to break taboos and inspire women to advocate for their health with confidence and clarity. Too many women suffer in silence, are misdiagnosed, or are told to simply “live with it.” We’re here to say: enough.

Rewriting women's health

Through expert-led education, powerful personal stories, and cutting-edge treatment insights, Know Your Normal empowers women to recognise what’s normal for their bodies—and act when something isn’t. Because knowing your normal isn’t just important—it’s life-changing.

We are rewriting the story of women’s health. Because when you know your normal, you can reclaim your voice, your body, and your wellbeing.

Know Your Normal: A Vulva Self-Check Guide

Your vulva, like the rest of your body, changes over time. Things like age, hormonal shifts, pregnancy, childbirth, and even lifestyle can all influence how your vulva looks and feels. Every vulva is unique—there’s no “perfect” shape, size, or colour. That’s why it’s important to get to know your normal, rather than comparing yourself to others or what you’ve seen online.

Regular self-checks are a powerful way to stay in tune with your health, spot any changes early, and build body confidence. Here’s a gentle and empowering step-by-step checklist to help you check in with your body.

Do you Know Your Normal?

We asked our followers and advocates the last time they checked their normal...

"It’s changed over the years, especially after having kids. I’m just starting to learn more about it."

"It used to feel strange, but now I see it as just part of looking after myself."

"I’m learning to know my normal in terms of my own body. Talking to other women has really opened my eyes."

Dr Shirin Lakhani

Our campaign is fronted by Dr. Shirin Lakhani, a GP and specialist in intimate health, known for her groundbreaking work in treating conditions like Lichen Sclerosus..

The campaign aims to break taboos, raise awareness of underdiagnosed conditions and empower women to ask the right questions and advocate for themselves in medical settings.

The conversation around intimate health should never be taboo,” says Dr. Shirin. “Too many women suffer in silence, are misdiagnosed, or are told their symptoms are just something they have to live with. ‘Know Your Normal’ aims to change that.”.
